Complete the race anytime in 2022!
On February 24, Russia launched a large-scale attack on neighboring Ukraine, invading the country on several fronts. As a result, more than two million Ukrainians have fled their homes in search of safety, with many more expected to follow. Our hearts are hurting for the people of Ukraine. So many of us want to help, but we don't know how. One thing we know how to do is run (and walk). We can race for the people of Ukraine and raise money to help bring some sort of relief. We invite you to join our Race for Ukraine 1M 5K 10K 13.1 26.2 and all proceeds (minus the cost of the medal and shipping) will be donated to two great charities that are on the front lines helping in the Ukraine.
We will split and donate all proceeds equally between these two charities: World Central Kitchen and Care.org.
Working at a 24-hour pedestrian border crossing in southern Poland, World Central Kitchen began serving hot, nourishing meals immediately. Now, they have expanded their efforts to serve people across the region in Romania, Moldova, and Hungary. WCK is also partnering with restaurants inside of Ukraine to get hot meals to anyone in need.
Our emergency gift supports Care.org's Ukraine Crisis Fund to reach 4 million with immediate aid and recovery, food, water, hygiene kits, psychosocial support, and cash assistance — prioritizing women and girls, families, and the elderly.
We know that coming together we can help thousands and do our part to help make a difference.
What: This is a 1M, 5K, 10K, 13.1, 26.2 virtual run (or walk) to help our friends in Ukraine. You choose which distance you want to complete!
When: Complete your race any time in 2022, even better if it's August 24, 2022 (The Act of Declaration of Independence of Ukraine was adopted by the Ukrainian parliament on 24 August 1991. The Act reestablished Ukraine's state independence).
*Medals and bibs will start shipping out around June 15th! After that they will ship out within 2 to 5 days of signing up. If you want to complete your race before your medal arrives you are welcome to do so. You will be able to print out a digital bib when you sign up.
Where: You choose the course and you time yourself (you’ll report your finishing time to us).
Why: Because this is our way of honoring the people of Ukraine.
